TOMMY HILFIGER ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF ITS FIRST FREESTANDING RETAIL STORE IN FLORENCE, ITALY
Amsterdam , The Netherlands (October, 2006)
- Tommy Hilfiger Europe B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tommy Hilfiger
Corporation, announced today the opening of its first freestanding retail store in Florence,
Italy. Following the recent openings of Tommy Hilfiger freestanding anchor stores in Milan and
Paris, the Florence store opening marks the Company’s entrance into another important European
fashion city.
“I am so excited to open a store in Florence. In my opinion it is one of the most phenomenal
fashion capitals of the world. It is not only an inspiring city, but it is also full of people who
understand and appreciate fashion. It gives us a platform to introduce new product in a timely
basis and live in the heart of creativity,” said Tommy Hilfiger.
The 500-square-meter store is located at the prestigious Piazza Degli Antinori 3D in a
monument-listed building. The freestanding store will showcase Hilfiger’s brand by combining
classic sportswear with contemporary details for a modern lifestyle. The store will feature men’s
and women’s sportswear, tailored and Hilfiger denim for men and girls.
In addition, fragrance, body products, watches, socks, handbags as well as men’s and women’s,
underwear, accessories, and footwear will be sold.
The Florence store design will be unique within the Tommy Hilfiger global retail portfolio as
it will represents a marriage of local architectural elements with modern American influences. The
building’s ancient stone columns and capitals have been carefully restored to their original
aesthetic and historical roots. Inside a glazed roof complements the grandeur of the main
space while the floors are a combination of local stone and antique oak, inclusive of a raised
center stage. Antique furniture, mirrors and chandeliers, and exclusive wardrobe fixtures are some
of the details that capture both the old world and the new world of design.
Current freestanding stores in Europe include London, Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Berlin,
Brussels, Barcelona, Stockholm, Vienna, Zurich, St. Tropez, Istanbul, Turin, Antwerp, Munich,
Athens, and Madrid, among others.
