Amsterdam, The Netherlands (January 2008): Tommy Hilfiger announced today the new 2008 Ski Collection. Featuring designs inspired by the rigorous demands of freeride skiing, the Collection has been upgraded to use 100% Gore-Tex® in all waterproof garments.
Developed by a team of ski specialists with input from professional freeriders, the Collection delivers ultimate protection from the elements through the use of high performance materials. All waterproof garments use 100% Gore-Tex® - the lightweight, breathable fabric that guarantees to keep the wearer dry. Down jackets use Gore's Windstopper® Insulated Shell, which delivers maximum warmth and comfort in cold and windy conditions. Soft Shell pieces use Gore's Windstopper® Soft Shell, for total windproofness and maximum breathability.
All garments feature Riri Zippers, which are famous for style and functionality. Polartec® fabrics are used in the mid layers to provide the ultimate layering combination with the Gore-Tex® outerwear. For added safety, outerwear garments incorporate Recco® Avalanche Rescue System reflectors, as recognized by more than 600 mountain rescue organizations worldwide.
The Collection is divided into three categories, each of which represents a unique combination of riding style and weather conditions.
Ride-Lite: Designed for Freestyle riding in milder spring conditions, Ride-Lite offers lightweight clothing with minimalist designs and relaxed fits for ultimate maneuverability. The ZERO jacket in ultra-light Gore-Tex® Pro Shell fabric, with subtle but distinctive Tommy details and trims, is one of the key items in this category.
Tech-Style: Tech-Style provides protection from the more extreme conditions of big mountain skiing. This range offers a variety of specialist outfits, including the Helix Gore-Tex® Soft Shell Jacket & Pant - designed in partnership with Heli-ski guides - and an All-Mountain insulated outfit in Gore Tex® Performance Shell.
Performance-de-Luxe: Performance-de-Luxe combines fashion and luxury without compromising functionality. Classic fashion styles - like the 'Silhouette' Jacket and the 'Esquire' outfit, both inspired by ski scenes from James Bond movies - and are given a performance twist by the Gore-Tex® technologies.
